Teaching aims: 

1. Help the students to understand the article in “Let's read” and answer the questions about the article and develop the Ss' reading ability.

2. Help the Ss to review the vocabulary (occupations) and the important sentences: 'What does he / she do?' 'Where does he / she work?' 'How does he / she go to work?' Enable the Ss to use them in real situations.

3. Help the Ss to talk about personal information.

The important points:

The difficult points:

Many cards with information about the people / CAI.

Teaching steps:

Step one: Pre-reading

1. Everyday English.

T: I love my family very much. Do you love your family? How many people are there in your family? What does your father do? How does he go to work? What does your mother do? How does she go to work?

2. Guide the students to ask some questions about the teacher.

T: Do you want to know something about my family? If you do, you can ask me some questions.

3. Guide the Ss to review the jobs vocabulary and present the new phrase: 'help the tourists find their way'.

(1) Listen and do.

T: Look! The weather is fine today. Let's go outside. OK? Stand up, please. Turn left, please. Turn right, please. Go straight, please.

(2) Show the Ss a picture of a garden with many colorful flowers in it.

T: which flower do you like?

(T asks the Ss to choose the flowers. One color of the flower has a topic. )

Topic 1: She works in the school. She teaches English there. She loves her students very much. What does she do? She is a        .

Step two: In-reading

1. Show many pictures of people on the screen. Guide the Ss to talk about these people.

(1) Guide the students to choose the right information of Zhou Jielun.

d) Show 6 choices about the job and ask the students to discuss about them.

(2) Ask several Ss to read it one by one

(3) Ask and answer some questions and judge the information about the article

(4) Ask the students to read it by themselves and finish the exercises.

(5) Check the answer

(6) Show the whole article to the Ss

T: If you like drawing and math, you can be an engineer. If you enjoy math, you can be an accountant. If you enjoy helping people, you can work for the police

Step three: Post-reading

1. Get the Ss talk about their ideal jobs.

T: I'm going to be a singer because I like singing. What about you? 

2. Ask the students to be the persons who are in charge of many companies: Jili Car Factory (吉利汽车厂) / Xinhua Book store / Beilun TV Station / Beilun Newspaper Office / Haitian  Company / Zongrui Hospital

(1) Guide the students to take out the paper and read the information on it

T: Now you are the managers of the companies. Where do you work?

S1: I work in        .

T: I work in Jili Car Factory. Jili Car Factory needs an engineer. What about your company?

(2) Discuss in four: 1 work in        .         needs a / an        . 

3. Show many pictures of people who want to be the employees of the companies. Guide the students to look at the information about these people on the wall.

T: Let's see. There are so many people who want to be your employees. Here is some information about them.

(1) Li Guang likes math and drawing pictures. He can design many beautiful cars. He goes to work by car. He wants to be an engineer

(2) Zhang Fang is beautiful and kind. She likes reading books very much. She likes to walk home. She wants to be a salesperson

4. Guide these “managers” to choose the right persons in pairs.
